Coligny Police Station visited by Department and Portfolio Committee for operational oversight

The Coligny Police Station is one of the stations visited by Portfolio Committee of Public Works & Roads and Community Safety and Transport Management alongside the Department this week as part of their oversight visit in the district.

The station is faced by numerous challenges that has been reported to relevant authorities to intervene for overhauling the station in order for the community safety services to be provided to the Coligny community at a satisfactory level.

Department Civilian Secretariat for Police Services Chief Directorate, Chief Director Mpho Maleme cited that the department has been working closely with Coligny Station management to come up with lasting solutions to the challenges facing the station.

‘The Coligny Police Station management must ensure that they work together with all stakeholders within the areas they service to ensure the reduction of high crime in Coligny’. Said Portfolio Committee acting chairperson, Freddy Sonakile.

Acting chairperson Sonakile further plea to the department to act swiftly to equip the station with manpower and tools of trade to improve provision of service delivery.
